Drama for Schools and Beyond: Transformative Learning Through the Arts

Katie Dawson, Beth Link, Stephanie Cawthon,  & Lara Dossett

Chicago University Press

Born during COVID years, this book is a compendium of work from  20 years at Drama for Schools.

This book is a tour de force, bringing together the foundational work completed at The University of Texas at Austin and stories of projects from across the US and the globe.

Drama for Schools shaped how I teach and how I think about education, teachers, students, and communities.

You’ll find many activities adapted for disability and accessibility in the Disability Is Human Official Workbook.

It’s an honor and a huge sense of WOW to see this book come to fruition!

The New Accessibility In Higher Education

This book project launched just as we started the National Disability Center for Student Success.

Our team wrote Chapter 2: The Current Status of Accessibility in American Higher Education.

We focused particularly on the “return” from COVID-19 and how it impacted disabled students and accessibility in higher ed as a whole.

Such a collaborative and student-centered effort!

Disability Is Human: The Vital Power of Accessibility in Everyday Life, LARGE PRINT Edition

Why Large Print?

A colleague asked for a Large Print edition so that his local library would consider it for their book club list.

It’s also the right thing to do for accessibility.

A Large Print Edition meant back to the layout drawing board, new ISBNs, and reconfiguring all the book elements.

The good people at TSPA dove right in and made it happen!

So, in addition to regular print, ebook, and audiobook…

Disability Is Human is now in a Large Print edition!

Available online — for both the Book and Official Workbook —- wherever books are sold.
