The 2024 Health Communication Leadership Institute (HCLI) — a national professional education conference for leaders and communicators in medical fields — has invited Dr. Stephanie W. Cawthon to join a roster of other experts to present their strategies and best practices for leadership, management, and innovation.
The author of the upcoming book, Disability Is Human: The Vital Power of Accessibility in Everyday Life, Dr. Cawthon will focus on designing workspaces and communications that embrace human complexity and are supportive environments for optimal inclusion and success.
Her presentation, “Accessibility From the Inside Out,” addresses core concepts of value to every leader, including:
-
How disability is prevalent and ableism is impacting patients and colleagues
-
Why disability must be a part of diversity initiatives and messaging
-
What strategies can be used daily to improve accessibility for all
HCLI is the Center for Health Communication’s premier event that provides current and aspiring health communicators with deep dives into essential topics for professional and personal growth. The Center for Health Communications is housed at the Moody College of Communications and Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin.
