Exceptional Alliances 2023, a free online conference on October 20 that tackles hot topics related to accessibility, has invited Stephanie W. Cawthon, PhD, to join the Disability Awareness and Acceptance panel.
It’s a session that will focus on disability vocabulary and how to increase disability awareness, spotlight role models, build communities, and support acceptance and lasting impact.
Dr. Cawthon is a tenured professor at The University of Texas at Austin and the founding director of the National Disability Center for Student Success, which was established last month with a $5 million federal grant.
Her co-panelists are Eileen Grubba, an award-winning actress, advocate, writer, and producer; Jourdan Saunders, CEO of The Resource Key; Dahlia Shaewitz, M.A., C.P.C., founder and CEO of Third Sight LLC; Dani Izzie, founder and director of Access Social; and Deborah Jaffe, founder of Friends of People with Disabilities.
Through fast-paced round-table discussions, Exceptional Alliances engages leading thinkers to share their lived experiences, expertise, and efforts to make systemic change. They include researchers, innovators, and policymakers in the fields of accessibility, neurodiversity, and assistive technology.
