Resources

In its 2021-2022 pilot year, the Collaborative’s teams curated and developed resources that bring much-needed information and support to improve accessibility and create a culture of access. Besides breaking down traditional silos, the Collaborative strives for these resources to be more than a list; instead, they can foster intentional connections and deeper understanding that access is more than just accommodations — it is a shift in mindset and culture.

Learn All the Details in a Newly-Published Impact Report

In September 2022, the Collaborative released Transforming Higher Education From the Inside Out: The Collaborative for Access and Equity (Pilot) Impact Report, a 39-page document of how the pilot was designed and implemented, the teams and supporters who made it happen, and its impact and outcomes.

The Collaborative is a replicable model that can transform colleges from the inside out by using evidence-based approaches and technological advances to make access easy for students and faculty, create a culture of accessibility, leverage technology, lead as ambassadors for change, and center disabled experiences.

The impact report includes the Collaborative’s top takeaways, its grounding principles, pilot development and implementation, its “secret sauce” of structured dialog, key themes and outcomes, and 14 recommendations for campus leadership.

Creating Students As Partners

"Students as partners" is a relatively new way of thinking about pedagogy in higher education, one that re-positions students as active collaborators in the diverse processes of teaching and learning, empowering students to be actively engaged in, and share the responsibility for, their own education. At UT Austin, the Students As Partners Initiative is a valuable resource and several Collaborative student team members are now also part of SAP.
