Cawthon to Present Keynote at Harper College Diversity Symposium

Stephanie W. Cawthon, PhD, is a keynote speaker at the Harper College Diversity Symposium on September 21, 2020.

Her keynote address, From Inside Out: Disability in an Ableist World, will explore how — although relatively common, considering 19% of the U.S. population has one or more “limiting conditions” at any given time — disability is a source of fear, discomfort, and discrimination. She will explain ableism and its ramifications, allyship, inspiration porn, and how symposium attendees can use their new knowledge on campus.

Founded in 2014, the Harper College Diversity Symposium provides the community with a unique opportunity to learn and discuss important topics related to diversity and inclusion through a keynote speaker, breakout sessions, and most importantly, conversations. Located near Chicago, Harper College is one of the nation’s premier community colleges and one of the largest, serving more than 35,000 students annually.
